Spring Arrangements!

I don't know about you, but I am sooo ready for Spring! This does seem to be the longest winter ever. Cold and snow like we have not experienced in a long time. So needless to say, I have Spring Fever bad! lol. I have been motivated to work in my shop. All winter long, I have been doing catch-up in my home. Painting cabinets and decorating projects have kept me plenty busy. This past week I decided to design another Blooming Lamp, I had one in my booth at the flea market,( my daughter confiscated the other one. lol) so I thought I would make another one. Also we have a sun porch on the back of our house next to the patio, and we have a sun room which is in the front. It is more part of our house, while the sun porch is much more casual. Anyway, it needed to be ready for spring to so that was the only reason I needed.  Hope you enjoy them to. Thank you for stopping by and for you kind comments. Easter Egg Tree!

Department 56 hand painted glass eggs, to be exact! They are beautiful, aren't they? Back before Christmas I had a phone call from the people we bought our house from, she wanted to know if I would be interested in some odds and ends from an auction. Well, of course I did. When I saw what she was talking about, I almost fell out! I expected a "few" things and certainly wasn't prepared for at least 20 plastic containers! Needless to say, I bought it!  I sat up all night going through it! I was like a little girl at Christmas! Anyway, to explain these eggs were in a box labeled "Easter". I did some research on these and they were made between 1999 and 2003 for Department 56. The little tree I already had so it was easy just to put in a glass container. I love them and plan on keeping them. Who knows they might be a collectors item some day. Thank you for stopping by. I am linking up with Kara over at Whassup Wednesday! Lighted Branches!

Well, I still have Spring Fever really bad so I have been redoing some of the florals in my home. This one in the corner was a have-to after my daughter came and "took" my blooming lamp. lol. Anyway, I bought these lighted branches at Kirklands not really sure if I liked them or not exactly what I was going to do with them. After seeing some in a floral arrangement (of all places in the doctors office), I decided to somewhat duplicate it. I used a skinny wreath wrapped in greenery, then put the branches in and just built up around it with the flowers and bird house (and the bird). The container is a mahogany color that goes really well with the rest of my room. Surely there must be more to do with them then this or just sticking them in a vase. What do you think? I appreciate you stopping by, have a great week.

Spring Wreath!

Do you think if all of us think Spring, it will come faster? lol. All the snow and cold weather we had, then to warm up for the past week was a shocker! We enjoyed the snow, but then we were tired of it! Come on Spring! So here is just one of the arrangements that I have been working on. I love the trend that is taking place with the style of wreaths, so just had to try one. All my grapevine wreaths were the big chunky ones, so the solution, take the wire loose that is holding them together and make two or three out of one. Instead of covering the grapevine up, some of it needs to show. Then it is simple to add greenery and the flowers of your choice. In some floral design there are rules, like the rule of threes, and the one and half to two times the size of your containers just to name a few. But then there is just "if it looks right to me". Everyone has their own style. I have to say my favorite is European Design. I love the open airy, yet very traditional flowers and the containers they are put in. I leaned the very basics when I went to floral design in Memphis, then later on learned country style from a lady that gave lessons. From then on, it really was just developing my own style. Anyway, all that just to say, I am on a roll! I have a booth that I share with a friend and we have got a lot to do getting ready for Spring! Wooo Hooo! This wreath along with two other arrangements are already on display, now just hoping they will sell.
Thank you for stopping by, I love your comments and look forward to checking out all the wonderful projects at Metamorphosis Monday, the link follows.
I hope you have a wonderful week. Blessings to you!

Tom!

Is he cute or what? This little fella that I call "Tom" was a gift from my sister in law many years ago. His neck was broken and had to be repaired and of course he had to be painted to. He is very heavy, but I have toted him around  from literally three states until we finally moved here. Since I have been snowed in and today was the first pretty day (60*) in quite awhile, I was itching to do something constructive. I saw "Tom" sitting in the sun room and thought OK, today is the day to change him. So with a paint brush and lots of tinted glaze, he got a good makeover. Does he now just look like he has been playing in the dirt? Antiquing wasn't good enough, no, he had to look like a dirty little boy. lol. And he does! I just love him. I even gave Tom center stage on my dining room table. He just brings a smile to my face every time I walk by. I hope you enjoy him to!  If the weather stays nice, no telling what I am liable to get into! Thanks for stopping by! Junking!

I have been junking again! I love to visit goodwill, flea markets, used furniture stores, etc. you get the picture? lol. It is just fun to always be on the look out for unusual "treasures". On my last trip, I found this topiary except it didn't look like this. It had seen better days, the top was actually sitting in the container (love that, it is metal) and wasn't even on a dowel. I didn't have to redo the foam, just found a piece of bamboo that worked and got it hot glued in there. There was a place in the "ball" to fix the bamboo and I was ready to go. The greenery was just placed around the center and a small dried flower was inserted. Wa laaaaa, it was finished! How do you like the bowl? I just love it to, what a bargain for 6.00. For now I will let sit there, but eventually will put a flower arrangement in it. The table was 12.50 and just needed painted. Another one of my vices! When the weather is like this, finding something to do is necessary, so today I started taking the fabric off a 2.00 queen ann that I got at a garage sale. But that is another post and it will be a loooong time off. Thank you for stopping by! I am linking up with Metamorphosis Monday! (link follows). You will be inspired!

My Blooming Lamp!

these pictures were taken in my shop as I was working, please excuse all the stuff!

I decided to keep this one, just liked where it was sitting!

I love this idea, not mine though. Kara from Elements Interiors came up with this one. Talk about a talented lady, she truly is. Sometimes I wonder how in the world she comes up with all these creative ideas. Her link is enclosed so you can visit her blog.
Anyway all that to let you know where I was coming from. Today was such a beautiful day and I was inspired to try  and see what I came up with. The first one with the red roses is in a mahogany wooden box. Filled with foam and the lamp glued and wired securely. Be careful and keep the glue away from the cord. Moss was then applied and the flowers was placed. The other lamp was secured the same way, just different pot and flowers. I always spray my arrangements with a clean acrylic sealer. Then when the flowers get dusty (or at least they do at my house) lol, all you have to do is take a hair dryer on low setting (no heat) and blow it off. Very easy! Both of these will go to my booth at a local flea market. Now if they will just sell, then I did have a productive day. I for sure will fix some of these for my house also. I hope you enjoyed your visit, thank you for stopping by.
